The amarene (sour cherry) are referred to as visciole in Cantiano, also known as the dark-red morello cherry. These wild cherries grow on trees smaller than those of regular cherries. The fruit itself is small and crimson-near-to-black in color, and very acidic, almost unpleasantly so when eaten raw.
Ideal for gramanite and sorbet making, as well as for serving over fruit salads, panna cotta or gelato
Add extra flavor to any sauce for game or dark roasted meats
Add a new twist to drinks with Prosecco, martini or a delicious Shirley Temples
